Here they are again.

On the way to work today I had to look twice. I didn’t think I saw, but then I looked again and did. My mind was not playing tricks on me. I had thought it was too soon and they were yet to come out. But I actually saw two in a row, on the same road. The brillant yellow long stems were there! A sign of what was to pop out all over. I spent the rest of the ten minute ride looking for others. Why just the two? If I had my camera at the ready I would’ve snapped the picture and proclaimed it all over facebook. The Forsythia are out! They are here! Spring is here! We made it! Though it rains and it is very gray outside, I have the patch of bright yellow I can’t wait to see again, on my ride home.

I've enjoyed writing since the first grade, since my aunt gave me a journal so long ago to write in. Now I write to enjoy the moments. I write to stretch and share my thoughts. I write to connect and find calm. Raising three kids, three rabbits and two cats, with a school social work career, I need the daily refuge writing offers. The simple reflections allow for an abundance of memories to the hurried pace of life.

  1. The joy in this piece is palpable. Amazing how that first blossom can brighten our day! To and from work. It’s the little things that matter
Forsythia does it for me every time – that’s why I bring a few sprigs in the house every March and force the yellow to grace my living room!

  2. Oh how wonderful, first signs of Spring! I feel like this year we are just hanging on, waiting for Spring. For the freedom it brings! Thanks for this very hopeful post!
