Spring peepers
Riding home to the sound of
Near the water
Everytime this year
Soothing, cheerful, celebrations of the season
Their choruses serenading
Embracing newness and energy
Drawing attention and attraction
Something of nature
Giving deep satisfaction

I've enjoyed writing since the first grade, since my aunt gave me a journal so long ago to write in. Now I write to enjoy the moments. I write to stretch and share my thoughts. I write to connect and find calm. Raising three kids, three rabbits and two cats, with a school social work career, I need the daily refuge writing offers. The simple reflections allow for an abundance of memories to the hurried pace of life.

Oh how I love spring peepers. You’ve captured the feelings of their springtime cheer so well in this poem. Note: check out my favorite children’s book that celebrates a father and son going hunting for spring peepers. Peeping and Sleeping by Fran Manushkin! Delightful text for this time of year.

The Spring sounds are wonderful to hear! Thinking about the peepers in your poem got me thinking about the Brood X Cicadas (the 17 year Cicadas) who are due to visit this year! They are really loud but I look forward to their return anyway!
