Wanting to clean the closet
Make some room
Just can’t seem to part with the dresses
They each tell a story
The pink linen for my son’s baptism
The purple on a Christmas Eve
The baby blue for my best friend’s wedding
The azure blue with white eyelets for my inlaws 50th wedding anniversary
Even the ones I’ll near wear again.
Like the April Cornell garden of pinks and flowers for my bridal shower
Oh what to do with the dresses????

I've enjoyed writing since the first grade, since my aunt gave me a journal so long ago to write in. Now I write to enjoy the moments. I write to stretch and share my thoughts. I write to connect and find calm. Raising three kids, three rabbits and two cats, with a school social work career, I need the daily refuge writing offers. The simple reflections allow for an abundance of memories to the hurried pace of life.

So true! I’m so with you on this post. So many outfits do tell a story. Never thought of a wardrobe as the narrative of a life. I can picture that April Cornell dress. So pretty.

This work from home deal has made me rethink my wardrobe but like you I don’t know if I should toss things yet! Thanks once again for capturing my thoughts for me!

I love your title, “Every Dress Tells a Story…” It is always hard for me to part with pieces that hold meaning and memories!

This is so well done. Your short romp through your memories thanks to a short romp through your closet! Thank goodness for the things we can anchor our memories to.
