Wanting the warmth

Now that we had a few warm days I am ready for more. I eagerly, and maybe too soon, emptied my closet of winter clothes. But now it is chilly and I need more layers for warmth. I arrived home early and curled up on my bed to read some catalogs from the mail. I fell asleep. I awoke to being frigid. This might have been a good thing because it got me up from the nap and down the stairs. Like a cat, I wanted to find a sunny spot on the wooden floor, and just bask in it. A hot cup of tea, for me, is soon to be. I’ll curl my hands around the mug, and just enjoy the boiled, spicy brew.

I've enjoyed writing since the first grade, since my aunt gave me a journal so long ago to write in. Now I write to enjoy the moments. I write to stretch and share my thoughts. I write to connect and find calm. Raising three kids, three rabbits and two cats, with a school social work career, I need the daily refuge writing offers. The simple reflections allow for an abundance of memories to the hurried pace of life.

  1. I ran out to a late afternoon doctors appt and came back so chilled. This weekends warm weather had me thinking I could shed layers but yeah – a cup of tea to rid the cold for me today too!

  2. I could just picture that cat, stretched out in the sunshine! We get tricked every year by that week of warmth, don’t we. Your slice reminded me that even though I turned the heat off, it is too soon. I guess it is time to enjoy those cups of tea still, that cozy hoodie (my favorite) and those shafts of sunshine where we can find them! I enjoyed reading this piece!
